Happy Earth Day 2022!

Happy Earth Day from your friends at WHFR Radio. To celebrate, please listen to the WHFR Journal today at 1pm when we'll chat with Marie McCormick, Executive Director of Friends of the Rouge. Marie will share insights into the ongoing Rouge clean-up efforts and ways we can get involved in making our Rouge River (and our world) a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable place for ALL humans (and all the flora and fauna, too). We'll then hear a powerful story from PRX: Fugitive Waves: Cry Me a River: A story of three pioneering river activists and the damming of wild rivers in the west.

Congratulations to Ms. Marjon!

Congratulations to Ms. Marjon for her "Honorable Mention" honor in the Promotional Announcement category in the 2022 Michigan Student Broadcast Awards!

Thanks to all who celebrated live local music at Trinity House last evening for the WHFR benefit concert with Jo Serrapere and the Lafawndas. They were magnificent! Special thanks to Jo and her band, Trinity House, Bill Keith, and John Bommarito for making this night a success. Look for pictures of the event coming to our gallery soon. Happy Radiothon!

Tune in weekly Tuesdays from 4:00 - 6:00pm!

This Week on Radio Vault Special Edition

Jack Benny absolutely "killed" (in a manner of speaking) during his era. Today it is by far my most popular comedy show. I will be featuring a rare REHEARSAL radio show on the upcoming Radio Vault installment. You'll hear how strange the show is without the music and without the audience. (but the sound effects man was working!).

Meantime, here is an oddball Benny TELEVISION show from 1959. It features Jack Webb. The Lux Soap and Stripe Toothpaste commercials are a hoot. If you are familiar with the cop show Dragnet, you’ll get some of the jokes. Enjoy!

The WHFR Journal - Tuesday, 2/22/22 9am Special Edition - Tuskegee Airmen Presentation

The WHFR Journal - Special Edition

Due to the recent inclement weather, WHFR presents a special edition of the WHFR Journal, Tuesday morning, February 22 at 9am. As part of Henry Ford College and WHFR's celebration of Black History Month we present “The History of the Tuskegee Airmen: Their Contributions to the Military and Society”. The speaker will be Retired Major William Burnett, the founder and president of the Macon-Thomas West Bloomfield Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen. The Tuskegee Airmen are America’s first Black pilots and airmen who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, during World War II. Their strength of character, courage, and ability to triumph over adversity serves as a means to inspire others to rise above the obstacles in their own lives and achieve their goals. Before the Tuskegee Airmen, no African-American had ever been a U.S. military pilot. Join us this week at this special time, Tuesday morning at 9, and at our usual time of Friday, 1pm for the WHFR Journal at 89.3FM and here at whfr.fm.

Henry Ford Campus Closed - Classical Programming

The challenging weather is causing an interruption to our regular programming. Henry Ford College shut down Thursday afternoon and, when this happens, our DJs aren't allowed to come in to do their shows. We hope to return to regular programming at 10 AM Saturday morning, but that is dependent on the college reopening.

In the meantime, please enjoy our classical programming and stay safe and warm.
