WHFR Journal - Thanksgiving Edition - This Friday at 1pm
Join us on this week's WHFR Journal when we explore two basic yet powerful words: Thank you. They sound simple enough. But there is always more to a topic, phrase, or ritual than one might think. Margaret Visser, the author of Much Depends on Dinner, is best known for her books about the history, anthropology, and mythology of everyday life. Now she has turned her scholarly eye towards gratitude. The result is a book called The Gift of Thanks: The Roots, Persistence and Paradoxical Meanings of a Social Ritual. Please tune in Friday, Nov.
It's the 13th Annual "Theme Attic" Thanksgiving Day Show!!!
When everyone is preparing to gather for Thanksgiving Day, maybe add a dollop of WHFR! Theme Attic, a show normally heard on Wednesdays, continues a holiday tradition for the 13th time on Thursday, November 28th, from 10AM-1PM EST.
Host Phil Maq will provide a musical main course that's loosely based on some Thanksgiving Day subjects along with some side orders that include several musical styles - some that are local, and one will be a very tasty Top 9 at 11:09 Countdown. Join in the fun and take us along!

As we approach the end of November, Bill Keith will host a special edition of WHFR Presents focusing on songs about Thanksgiving, Thankfulness, Gratitude, and the things we are thankful for.
Bill will mix in songs about many things he is thankful for including songs about love, music, baseball, and family. Get ready for Thanksgiving with a wonderful evening of music to kickstart your week.

This Sunday on "WHFR Presents"
The metro Detroit area has always been a vibrant scene for good music of all genres, including the Blues, Motown, Techno, and more. WHFR has been here to support that for almost 40 years. In the 1990s and 2000s we were lucky enough to receive a plethora of CDs of all kinds of indie rock for airplay.
A scene exploded with bands and artists that had a huge impact on music: Jack White in his early days, The Detroit Cobras, The Sights, The Go, The Demolition Doll Rods, just to name a few.
Join me on WHFR PRESENTS this Sunday at 4:00pm as I spotlight many of the artists from this era.
