Pharoah Sanders Memorial Show: Spirits Rejoice Tuesday Sept. 27 4-10pm EDT
Pharoah Sanders has passed at the age of 81. They called him "A Force of Nature" and indeed his powerful sound on the tenor and soprano saxophones was loved by many and an inspiration to a whole generation of jazz and world musicians. Pharoah spent his formative years in the mid sixties with the great John Coltrane and forged a unique approach to music that leaned heavily on spirituality and the expression of love and peace. His career spanned seven decades with a wealth of recordings as a leader and sideman. Join me for a special Memorial this Tuesday on WHFR Radio, Spirits Rejoice.

Kevin J Briggs is an author who specializes in consciousness and the connection to ET/UFOs. His recently published book “Spiritual Consciousness a Personal Journey” covers 57 years of his experiences of ET contact and UFO connections. Planned Power Outage at HFC will Take WHFR Radio Off the Air - This Saturday 4pm Through Sunday
WHFR Radio will go off the air this Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening/Monday morning. To continue their work on the Integrated Energy Management Plan (IEMP), the HFC Facilities crew will conduct a main campus electrical shutdown at Henry Ford College, where WHFR's broadcast operation transmits from. The affected times/days will begin at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, and run through Sunday, August 28. We will plan to get WHFR back on the air as soon as possible once the power is restored.

Mountain Stage, a national treasure, is one of the longest running live music performance show on radio. Spanning two decades of production and musical evolution, this live performance radio show has created and maintained it's own unique identity and audience. It has always been three shows in one: a live performance stage concert for those who attend in person, both a state broadcast as well as a nationally distributed radio show, and a television program.

Acoustic Alternatives Farewell
Acoustic Alternatives with John Bommarito's first farewell took place on June 26, 2011 after nearly ten years on the WHFR airwaves. The show made a return on September 9th, 2021 to play the best in singer songwriter, modern folk and Americana.
This Thursday July 21, we say goodbye to the show once again as John has a new opportunity calling him away from our airwaves. Tune in from 10 AM - Noon to go down memory lane as John revisits some of the in-studio performances that have taken place over the life of his show.

WHFR is happy once again to have a presence at Concert of Colors this coming weekend. The free event runs now through July 24th.
The Concert of Colors is metro Detroit’s free annual diversity-themed music festival. Global music at its finest at this colorful, festive, upbeat coveted summer event. Housed in Culture Source a coalition of 152 arts organizations in Southeast Michigan, the Concert of Colors has become the Midwest’s biggest diversity and arts festival.

The early ‘60s witnessed an explosion of music out of England, turning the popular music world on its ear. Paying homage to America's great blues artists, they turned many listeners and musicians on to a forgotten American art form. Guest: Kathleen Marden. Kathleen is a researcher, author, on camera expert, and conference presenter. Her research has extended to archival collections and the US government’s involvement in the investigation of UFOs and its major studies. Her interest in UFOs and contact began in 1961, when her aunt and uncle, Betty and Barney Hill had a close encounter and subsequent abduction in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Her latest book is: “Forbidden Knowledge: A Personal Journey from Alien Abduction to Spiritual Transformation”.

On Radio Vault Special Edition, Tuesday June 28th at 10 AM, we continue with another from the Great Gildersleeve series. We'll be hearing one of the earliest episodes from 1941 where Gildy is just leaving Wistful Vista. Gildersleeve had been a character on Fibber McGee & Molly and takes a new job as water commissioner of Summerfield. Harold Peary is in his original role. Peary is best known perhaps on the singing Faygo TV commercials "remember when you were a kiddddddd!?" in the Detroit area and also featured in some of the Gildersleeve films.
