WHFR PRESENTS: THE MUSIC OF YUSEF LATEEF PART TWO

YUSEF LATEEF

Picking up from his 1960 session that produced "The Three Faces of Yusef Lateef," WHFR PRESENTS will continue the YUSEF LATEEF project with his music from the early to mid-'60s. Yusef would continue his explorations into musical instruments and culture from around the world with recordings from Prestige, Impulse and other record labels. He would move to New York City in 1960 but continue to work with many of the great Detroit musicians, some of whom would have also moved to NYC. Yusef would also join the Cannonball Adderley Sextet with dates in 1961 and 1962 that will be shared on this broadcast.

Tune in on Sunday, November 16, from 4-7pm EST, or with a repeat broadcast on Thursday, November 20, from 11am-2pm EST to hear the music of Yusef Lateef as he headed into the '60s with his tenor saxophone, flute, oboe, as well as instruments from Asia, Africa and the Middle East in hand.
