WHFR-FM Kicks of Annual Pledge Drive with Bailey's Electronic Music Event THIS Saturday!

WHFR Radio is holding its ONCE-A-YEAR pledge drive April 10th – 16th, with live concerts and special on-air events. This weeklong fund-raiser offers you a chance to show your support for programming on 89.3 FM. This year’s Radiothon live events kick off early with a WHFR Electronic Music Benefit at Bailey’s Pub and Grille in Dearborn on Saturday, April 9th (22091 Michigan Ave.), featuring local DJ's who have performed on WHFR's "The Mix" music show. John Marius, manager of Myth Records will headline.

J.C. WESTWOOD performing LIVE on "Motor Live Drive @ 5", Thursday 5-6pm April 7th

Dynamic vocalist J.C. Westwood will perform LIVE on Thursday 5-6pm for "Motor Live Drive @ 5". She is currently working with the band Rockets, but also sings with several Detroit area bands including Muledrive, Jennifer Westwood Band, and The Infatuations. She quotes her style as "I'd rather ride the subway than take a limo...I love old glamour and jeans with a tank." Be sure to listen in!

Elements & The Physical World on "Theme Attic", Thursday, 10am-Noon, April 7th

The four elements of classical thought that made up the physical world were air, fire, earth, and water. These appear repeatedly with variations from the Babylonians, through the Greeks, as well as Tibet and Japan. This week on Theme Attic, please listen in as DJ Phil Maq explores songs about air and fire and their closely related subjects--both literally and figuratively--in the first show on these four elements this Thursday, April 7th at 10:00 AM. Part Two will follow on April 21st at 10:00 AM as an Earth Day Show.

Ms. Anton has dedicated herself to helping others effectively manage sexually distressing symptoms. Click on our pod cast section and listen as Mike and Tiffany discuss such things as sexual health, treatment strategies for couples as well as individuals, attitudes and beliefs about sex along with other topics. Ms. Anton was also a featured speaker at WHFR's recent "The Festival of Enlightenment Holistic Fair". Her presentation proved to be popular and informative.

SUZANNE TAYLOR will guest on "We Are Not Alone" Tuesday 1-2PM, April 5th

Suzanne Taylor is the producer and director of the documentary film "What on Earth: Inside the Crop Circle Mystery". "Theme Attic" featuring Spring & April Fool's Day, Thursday 10-Noon, March 31st

This week's Theme Attic show will feature its first songs of Spring while focusing on April Fool's Day themes of fools and silly (strange?) songs. "The Fish Is in the Freezer" and a "Ship of Fools" is waiting to dock. In addition, there will be a birthday party for Johann Sebastian Bach. And you know that Peter Schickele will have to crash the party with P.D.Q. Bach for at least one song! So, everything from classical to kiddie songs-from Bach to Alvin & The Chipmunks will be covered on Theme Attic this week.

WHFR Radio is hosting our third holistic fair, “The Festival of Enlightenment” THIS Saturday, March 26th, 2011, from 11am-5pm at the Pavilion of the Student Services Center at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan.
