Acupuncturists Nora Madden and Jalyn Spencer on "Metaphysically Speaking" -- 1pm Tomorrow

Final "AA Battery" Show -- 7pm, This Sunday!

About 10 years ago, two guys named Alec became WHFR DJs. One hosted a show called "The Metallic K.O." and the other "The Dog and Pony Show."

The Alecs became friends, realized they both had an appreciation of weird music, and went to see a lot of live music together.

Alec and Alec decided to co-host an indie-music program called "AA Battery."

Tune in this Sunday at 7pm for the final "AA Battery" show when the Alecs play some of their favorite cuts from past shows.

Dem Gov Candidate to be on Journal, 6-11-10

Virg Bernero, current Mayor of Lansing, who hopes to be the MI Democratic Party's candidate for Governor in the Nov. election, will be interviewed this Friday on "The New WHFR Journal," 1-2 PM. Show will be available as a podcast from this website after the broadcast. Bernero is running against Dearborn Heights Rep. Andy Dillon for this nomination in the Democratic Primary Election on August 3.

Learn about bluegrass legend Pete Goble and the "Lonesome River Band" this Saturday when special guest Bill Bynum joins host Lynn on "Saturday Spontaneity."

Born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky in 1932, Pete Goble has been the heart and soul of bluegrass music for over 45 years. Goble has penned songs for The Osborne Brothers, Country Gentlemen, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, McPeak Brothers, Shenandoah Cut-Ups, Bluegrass Cardinals, Bill Harrell, Lost and Found, IIIrd Tyme Out, Mountain Heart and many others.

"Your Skull My Closet" bandleader Sean Hoen on "One Plus One Show" -- 9pm Tomorrow!

Join Mrs. Robinson tomorrow when she welcomes Sean Hoen to WHFR. Hoen's new band, ""Your Skull My Closet" performs Saturday June 19 at the Pike Room with "Red Iron Orchestra" and "Friendly Foes." Free tickets and CDs are available during the show.

Other Hoen bands include "Holy Fire" and "Thoughts of Ionesco."

Mrs. Robinson is also giving away tickets to the "New Pornographers" Monday, June 14 show at the Crofoot. "The Dutchess and The Duke" and "The Dodos" are opening.

Local Guitarist Jerome Clark on "Play It By Ear" -- 10pm Tuesday, June 8

Detroiter Jerome Clark joins host Terrence Tyson for a special edition of "Play It By Ear" next Teusday at 10pm.

Tune in and hear the eclectic guitarist who loves playing jazz, blues and R&B. His cd "Water" captures smooth jazz grooves with accents of Latin, funk, and soulful flavors.

Clark plays Fridays at the St. Regis Hotel's LaGuardia Restaurant.

Travis Walton on "We Are Not Alone" -- 1pm, Tuesday, June 1

Author Travis Walton, "Fire in the Sky", joins host David Twichell this Tuesday to discuss Walton's 1975 alien abduction.

Lots Happening On "The Flash Drive Jazz Show" -- Starting Midnight Tonight!!!

Tune in midnight tonight, Monday May 24, when host Marc Anthony begins a broadcast of the "Jazz Heritage Series 2010 Radio Broadcast" featuring The Airmen of Note, hosted by Dick Golden. Special guest performances include the New York Voices, Joey DeFrancesco and Gary Smulyan.

Then check out "The Flash Drive Jazz Show" at its new time, 6pm-8pm, Thursdays starting May 27! Detroit's own Pamela Wise, jazz pianist and composer, is the featured artist.

There is no time in Detroit like the month of May for Electronic Music. Each year, the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (Movement) takes place over memorial day weekend in Hart Plaza. To help lovers of Electronic Music get pumped up, WHFR's "The Journey into Trance" and "Midnight Mix" host, BAM, will be welcoming some very special DJ's to the shows.
