The CREATIVE ARTS COLLECTIVE was a major force in avant-garde music, presenting concerts at the Detroit Institiute of Arts from 1979-1992. Established by Detroit guitarist A. SPENCER BAREFIELD and Chicagoans Roscoe Mitchell and Dushon Mosely, the CAC brought together creative jazz musicians from Detroit, Chicago and New York for a series of concerts that helped shape Detroit's creative music scene.
