CLASSIC SCIENCE FICTION ALL SUMMER on Sunday Mysteries
Superhero serials were big on radio. There were famous ones like Superman, Flash Gordon, Tom Corbett and Jack Armstrong the All American Boy, to name a few. Many shows like these were also known as cliffhangers, leaving you in suspense during the last minutes of the show. So, of course, you HAD to keep tuning in to the next installment! A little known show, The Planet Man, was syndicated in 1950. Palladium Productions was behind this syndicated series, but there's little else we know about it today other than it was well produced action-packed serial. Most of the 78 episodes produced exist today of broadcast quality sound. Just before our COVID break, we began airing Planet Man on Sunday Night Mysteries, and now they're back, starting June 1st! All summer we'll be featuring an hour of Planet Man or similar shows during our 3 hour Mystery and Adventure series on WHFR. Catch it between 9M and 12 Midnight on 89.3 or stream at whfr.fm You'll also continue to hear shows like Suspense and many other detective and mystery programs that aired generations ago, curated just for you.
