WHFR and DJ Alex are happy to have Metro Detroit’s Ryan Allen in the studio to promote his 2nd Solo record HEART STRING SOUL with an interview and acoustic set Wednesday afternoon. HEART STRING SOUL, released under the name Ryan Allen and His Extra Arms, was recorded with Allen’s dad in his childhood home and will be released on Allen’s label Two Brains Recording Co. on March 25. Dr. Willie W. Payne A Special Black History Month Guest on BLUES WITH A FEELING Feb 28

In conjunction with Black History Month, the Blues With A Feeling show will feature special guest Dr. Willie W. Payne, historian and author, who will talk about his multi-media lecture, The Underground Railroad Michigan Connection. Payne uses music, song and photos of local Underground Railroad stops to narrate stories and describe places used to harbor runaways. He will discuss how slave work songs and spirituals were used to communicate escape plans and how these songs also influenced blues, jazz and other music. Tune in to Blues With A Feeling on Saturday, February 28th, from 8:00-10:00pm to hear this special presentation.

Every year on or around Valentine’s Day, Mrs. Robinson shares her love of the music of singer-songwriter Will Oldham by playing his music from his vast catalog. Oldham currently performs under the name Bonnie “Prince” Billy and has performed under the moniker Palace, Palace Brothers, Palace Music, and the bands Continental OP, Box of Chocolates and more. As a special treat this year (and most years), Oldham will call in and chat with Mrs. Robinson at some point during the show. Our guest today is probably the most recognizable name in UFOlogy: Nuclear Physicist and Lecturer Stanton Friedman. He became interested in UFOs in 1958, and since 1967 has lectured about them at more than 600 colleges and 100 professional groups in 50 U.S. states, 10 Canadian provinces and 18 other countries. He has published more than 90 UFO papers and has appeared on hundreds of radio and TV programs including Larry King Live and numerous documentaries.
