Jay and Dennis are joined by Morris Goodman, editiorial columnist for the Dearborn Press & Guide, and J. Patrick Pepper, reporter for the downriver News-Herald.

For the first half of the show, we present an interview with Scott Bowman, the Libertarian Party's candidate for the U.S. Senate. The Libertarian Party is the third largest party in the U.S. with many candidates running across the country. Only WHFR gives you "alternative news and views" to help you make the best choices on Nov. 6.

To inform you about ALL your potential choices in the voting booth this November 6th, we're inviting all CHALLENGERS (not incumbents), including those from "third parties" to briefly state their backgrounds, their philosophy, and their legislative plans, once in office. As part of this effort, Republican candidate for 15th District (mostly Dearborn) to the Michigan House is on today's show, during the last fifteen minutes.

Dr. Gail Mee updates us on the exciting new school year at Henry Ford Community College in our first half hour. She will be leaving HFCC after six busy years with numerous local accomplishments and both national and local recognition for her work. In the second half, we speak to "Mr. Public Citizen," Ralph Nader, who ran for President in 2000, 2004, and 2008, twice on a Third party ticket and once as an Independent. Should we vote at all this November? For whom? Why don't we hear more about all the choices we actually have on the ballot?

On November 6, the Presidential race is very important, as are the local contests. However, the ELEVEN proposals on the ballot in Wayne county--with SIX being statewide--could perhaps have the biggest impact on our everyday lives, so on today's JOURNAL we presents the proposals in detail, with a variety of perspectives about their need, value, and consequence.

Two special guests tell us about "Green Living Alternatives," part of Dearborn Homecoming actvities next weekend, this being from 1-4 PM on Aug. 4: Maureen McIlrath of Dearborn cable TV's "Going Green with Maureen," and Sean Galloway, who along with Maureen is guiding the Going Green Foundation (goinggreenfoundation.org).

For the first half hour, our special guest is Karen Jacobsen who will be competing in the August 7th primary to be the Republican candidate for 12th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

For the first 20 minutes, an interview with Cynthia Kallgren, a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress, 12th District, which includes Dearborn, as well as out to Ann Arbor and down to Trenton. She is one of two Republicans running for the nomination in the August primary election. More info: kallgrenforcongress.com

Today, for the first half hour, an interview with local community activist Kristyn Taylor, who has been a spokesperson for several local advocacy groups, including Save Our Pools. She recently formed a Facebook group: Dearborn Residents for Accountability, which hopes to get more information out to the public on current city issues so we can all give better input to our elected representatives.

Along with the top local stories of the week, we present an extended interview with former U.S. Army Captain Paul K. Chappell, author of the book, "The End of War." His website is: www.wagingpeace.com.
