WHFR broadcasting live music from CONCERT of COLORS this weekend, July 6 & 7!

From "Concerts of Colors": WHFR will be broadcasting all the live music performances from the Diversity Stage--one of three at the Max M. Fisher Music Center. Our regularly schedule music shows will be on hiatus during these performances from about 2 PM to 10 PM, Saturday and Sunday, July 6 & 7. Best recommendation--come down and enjoy all the FREE music IN PERSON--and be sure to visit the WHFR table in the lobby and our broadcasters at the Diversity Stage. Two stages are indoors and one outside; food and drink are available to purchase from a number of vendors.

The 2nd Annual "Almost All American Show" on "Theme Attic", Wednesday, July 3, from 10AM-Noon!

While most Americans are getting ready for the 4th of July Holiday, "Theme Attic," the radio show that picks themes and plays music from a variety of genres about selected subjects, will take a look at the state of the country in general. This will not necessarily be a "rah-rah flag waving" show, but it will be one that features great music about the country's aspirations--and shortcomings. Celebrating Electronic Music Pioneers: Bebe Barron & Otto Luening on "Space is the Place" Friday 6/14 @ 6 p.m.

Be sure to listen to "Space is the Place" this Friday 6 - 8 p.m. as Host Tom Wilson presents the groundbreaking, entirely electronic score of the sci-fi film classic, "Forbidden Planet". This 1956 film inspired Gene Rodenberry to create "Star Trek". The music was composed by the electronic music pioneer husband and wife team of Louis & Bebe Barron (born: 6/16/25). The Barron's music - "Electronic Tonalities" - remains as riveting and inventive today as it did when it was first written and performed.
