Meet Mike Emory, Founder of the Victory Gym on a Special IMPACT! Show Dedicated to Veterans Tuesday. May 10, 1pm - 2pm
A place for military veterans to workout and socialize is what Mike Emory's Victory Gym in Brownstone Township is all about. The club is a non-profit venture where there is no charge for first responders or any veteran who shows discharge papers from military service. Those who are not veterans also are welcome to use the facility for a monthly fee. The health club also serves as a place to hold meetings, engage in art therapy and explore martial arts. Joining the discussion is WHFR's own Veteran Mark Sheeler with first-hand experiences from the gym.

Join Pat Frisco Tuesdays from 4pm-6pm for a limited-time radio engagement called "Rollin' and Tumblin'". You may hear Sonny Boy Williamson blowing the harmonica on some 1950's blues singles, Chuck Berry laying down some early rock and roll rhythms, The Stones and Beatles taking it to another level, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton with some heavy guitar sounds and/or the fusion of psychedelic rock and jazz from the late 60's/early 70's. Don't miss the Blues Jam at the New Place Lounge 9pm, Saturday April 16. You are invited to join us for a night of fun with your favorite WHFR Deejays as Sam the Singing Sax Man takes the stage to call up some of the Detroit area's finest musicians to play for your blues-listening pleasure. This is WHFR's first event in conjunction with Radiothon 2016, our once per year week-long pledge drive to raise funds needed to continue excellence in our broadcast at 89.3fm WHFR.FM. Each year the station needs to raise over 60% of our operating costs.
There's A New Service on Campus for HFC Students Needing Food -- Learn About it on IMPACT! Tuesday April 12 at 1pm
The Hawk Nest opened January 2016 to help HFC students in need of food. Non-perishable food items are available through the Hawk Nest food pantry Monday through Friday 10am - 1pm and 4pm - 7pm during the fall and winter semesters. Meet Rochelle Taylor and Harrison Shelby from the program which helps students stay in school when Host Lynn interviews them on the next edition of IMPACT! IMPACT! is the show about individuals and groups making a positive difference in the community. Remember, if you miss the broadcast at 1pm Tuesday April 12, you can catch the podcast.
