Local Guitarist Jerome Clark on "Play It By Ear" -- 10pm Tuesday, June 8

Detroiter Jerome Clark joins host Terrence Tyson for a special edition of "Play It By Ear" next Teusday at 10pm.

Tune in and hear the eclectic guitarist who loves playing jazz, blues and R&B. His cd "Water" captures smooth jazz grooves with accents of Latin, funk, and soulful flavors.

Clark plays Fridays at the St. Regis Hotel's LaGuardia Restaurant.

Travis Walton on "We Are Not Alone" -- 1pm, Tuesday, June 1

Author Travis Walton, "Fire in the Sky", joins host David Twichell this Tuesday to discuss Walton's 1975 alien abduction.

While there have been countless claims over the years and around the world of people being abducted by otherworldly beings and taken aboard some sort of space craft, few provide suitable evidence to sway the skeptic. Evidence such as multiple witnesses of an event, conscious memories of the onboard experience, official documentation, positive polygraph tests, and physical trace evidence on the ground.

"Impact" is a new public affairs talk program which takes an in-depth look at organizations, events, and people who have taken up causes to make positive changes in our community -- and around the world!

"Friends of the Rouge" this month's featured organization, discusses watersheds, pollution of them, and the environmental impact.

Lots Happening On "The Flash Drive Jazz Show" -- Starting Midnight Tonight!!!

Tune in midnight tonight, Monday May 24, when host Marc Anthony begins a broadcast of the "Jazz Heritage Series 2010 Radio Broadcast" featuring The Airmen of Note, hosted by Dick Golden. Special guest performances include the New York Voices, Joey DeFrancesco and Gary Smulyan.

Then check out "The Flash Drive Jazz Show" at its new time, 6pm-8pm, Thursdays starting May 27! Detroit's own Pamela Wise, jazz pianist and composer, is the featured artist.

French pianist, Yvonne Loriod, the wife of and interpreter of the music of modern classical composer Olivier Messaien, passed away on Monday May 17 at the age of 86.

There is no time in Detroit like the month of May for Electronic Music. Each year, the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (Movement) takes place over memorial day weekend in Hart Plaza. To help lovers of Electronic Music get pumped up, WHFR's "The Journey into Trance" and "Midnight Mix" host, BAM, will be welcoming some very special DJ's to the shows.

Tune in Thursday May 20 at 9pm to hear house music legend Terrence Parker along with well know Detroit DJ Dan Guzman.

Then check out Thursday May 27 to hear another well-known Detroit DJ Mykel Waters spinning live.

"Wind On The Waves" Makes Its Debut -- 10am Wednesday, May 19

Want to try something new? Then tune in Wednesdays from 10am - noon for "Wind on the Waves!" This show features a variety of genres -- all with an emphasis on wind instruments. You'll hear vocals and lots of other instruments; but as host Bobby Breeze says, "If it don't blow, it don't go!"

Certified Face Reader and Author Lin Klaassen on "Metaphysically Speaking" -- 1pm Tuesday, May 18

Face reading is based on a correlation between the structure of the face and the character or personality of an individual. Also known as "Physiognomy" or "Personology", face reading has been practiced around the world for 3000 years. Statistically, face reading is 92% accurate.

Lin Klaassen has been involved with face reading for 17 years. She assists trial lawyers in jury selection, corporations in sales and personnel advice, and life coaching. While working as an area manager for a beauty supply chain, Lin started using face reading as a way to hire and train employees.

WHFR PRESENTS 6 HOUR "MOOG-ATHON" BOB MOOG BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE

WHFR Radio and Tom Wilson host of "Space is the Place" (Fridays, 6-8pm) are PROUD to bring you a special 6 HOUR broadcast-birthday tribute in honor of the late Dr. Robert Moog (May 23, 1934-August 21, 2005). Moog was an electronic music pioneer and inventor of synthesizers that changed the course of popular music. This special event will be broadcast live as part of the "Space is the Place" program FRI. MAY 21, FROM 6PM-12 MIDNIGHT. Tom will be playing Moog standards ie.

Melvin Davis on "Motor Live Drive @ 5" -- 5pm Thursday, May 13

Hear a very special performance this Thursday on "Motor Live Drive @ 5" when Northern Soul artist Melvin Davis joins Mr. White and Margaret. Melvin is backed by the rock historians and hard rockin' band "Party Stompers."

Melvin was an original Fortune Record artist and a Motown session musician at from 1961-1970.

Although he's done only a handful of shows in Detroit in the past 40 years, Melvin fills concert halls in Europe! He's performing locally this Saturday; then heading to New York and Europe for an international tour.

Mick Bassett and the Marthas on "Motor" -- 5pm Thursday, May 6

Join Mr. White and Margaret as they welcome back Mick Bassett and the Marthas to tomorrow's "Motor Live Drive at 5".

Mick's bringing the full band -- including two trombones! -- in anticipation of a cd release party Thursday, May 13 at The Loving Touch Pool Hall in Ferndale (248-546-3644).

Since last appearing on "Motor" in November 2007, Mick has been working with the Jason Stollsteiner group "The Hounds Below."
