Join Bill Keith from 4-6pm as he presents "BACK IN THE DAY," a throwback to college radio past, featuring artists from the '70s and '80s, along with current music by those artists, showing that they are still making relevant music today.
Stay tuned from 6-8pm as Brian Yamstein explores the various renditions of the classic song "Peggy O" on his HISTORY NOTES special, starting with the original Bob Dylan versions and into the various takes on the piece.

2023 Year in Review

Winter Season Celebration Programming
All of us here at WHFR wish you the very best during this holiday season. Many of your favorite WHFR personalities will once again gather around the studio this season to record special programs celebrating a variety of holidays that fall into these cold months including Kwanzaa, Chanukah, Christmas, New Year, and other winter holidays. There will be lots of wonderful independent music that you may have never heard before, plus alternative versions of your favorite traditional holiday songs.
One special addition to WHFR’s own Winter Season Celebration programming will be Paul Winter's 40th Annual Winter Solstice Celebration from NPR Music. Hosted by WNYC's John Schaefer, it will feature special guests Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul, and Mary), the Paul Winter Consort, including cellist Eugene Friesen and double reed player Paul McCandless, gospel singer Theresa Thomason, and the Forces of Nature Dance Theatre. In these dark times, the Winter Solstice Celebration offers an uplifting experience of community, light, and music. Treat yourself to this contemporary take on ancient solstice rituals. Paul Winter's 40th Annual Winter Solstice Celebration will be featured throughout WHFR’s Winter Season Celebration programming on December 24th and 25th.
So light up the Christmas tree, throw an extra log into the fireplace, prepare your hot chocolate, and enjoy the holiday spirit while listening to our Winter Season Celebration programming on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2023 right here on WHFR.

We invite you to tune in to this week's WHFR Journal program when we chat with Cory Keller, President of Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit about their services and facilities, and ways to get involved in helping our local furry friends. Also, we'll talk about the beautiful Arab American National Museum with the AANM's Curator of Education and the Arab Film Festival, Dave Serio. Learn how the AANM helps educate our community on the culture and history of the Middle East's traditions and heritage. All this on a powerful edition of the WHFR Journal this Friday at 1pm.

"WHFR PRESENTS": DEREK BAILEY "COMPANY" PROJECTS
Derek Bailey was an avant-garde guitarist of the highest order. From 1976 until 1994, he assembled various configurations of like-minded, free improvising musicians to form his project called "Company." Musicians from the worlds of jazz, classical and avant-garde were invited to break down into duos, trios and small groups to create spontaneous interactive music.
Many of these meetings have been documented on "Company" recordings. These recordings will be featured during WHFR Radio's WHFR PRESENTS on Sunday, December 10, from 4-8pm EST, with your host Pat Frisco.
