Concert of Colors!

WHFR is happy once again to have a presence at Concert of Colors this coming weekend. The free event runs now through July 24th.

The Concert of Colors is metro Detroit’s free annual diversity-themed music festival. Global music at its finest at this colorful, festive, upbeat coveted summer event. Housed in Culture Source a coalition of 152 arts organizations in Southeast Michigan, the Concert of Colors has become the Midwest’s biggest diversity and arts festival.

You can come say "hi!" to us near the Wolverine Stage on July 23rd and 24th.

The British Invasion Invading WHFR’s Airwaves! Monday July 11 2-6pm

The early ‘60s witnessed an explosion of music out of England, turning the popular music world on its ear. Paying homage to America's great blues artists, they turned many listeners and musicians on to a forgotten American art form. Hear the likes of early Stones, Animals, Yardbirds as well as the great bluesman like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker. Tune in Monday, July 11th, from 2-6pm.

We Are Not Alone ~ Monday, July 4, 2022. 2 – 3 PM EST.

Guest: Kathleen Marden. Kathleen is a researcher, author, on camera expert, and conference presenter. Her research has extended to archival collections and the US government’s involvement in the investigation of UFOs and its major studies. Her interest in UFOs and contact began in 1961, when her aunt and uncle, Betty and Barney Hill had a close encounter and subsequent abduction in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Her latest book is: “Forbidden Knowledge: A Personal Journey from Alien Abduction to Spiritual Transformation”.

This Tuesday on Radio Vault Special Edition

On Radio Vault Special Edition, Tuesday June 28th at 10 AM, we continue with another from the Great Gildersleeve series. We'll be hearing one of the earliest episodes from 1941 where Gildy is just leaving Wistful Vista. Gildersleeve had been a character on Fibber McGee & Molly and takes a new job as water commissioner of Summerfield. Harold Peary is in his original role. Peary is best known perhaps on the singing Faygo TV commercials "remember when you were a kiddddddd!?" in the Detroit area and also featured in some of the Gildersleeve films.

We Are Not Alone • Monday, June 6, 2022 – 2-3PM EST

Chuck Zukowski will be our guest on June 6 at 2PM. Chuck has been investigating the UFO/Paranormal phenomenon for about 35 years and has appeared on numerous radio and television shows discussing his investigations. In 2016 Ben Mezrich released his book, “The 37th Parallel”, The Secret Truth Behind America’s UFO Highway (a TV show in which Chuck Zukowski starred). Join us for the discussion.

Special Programming This Thursday on WHFR

Today's Acoustic Alternatives with John Bommarito is a special show on 89.3 WHFR.FM. All of the DJs are taking you on some sort of musical road trip this week. Last week John Bommarito took you around Michigan as a preview. This week he will take you to California, Ohio, Chicago, Iowa, North Dakota, Omaha & New York and a few stops in between.

After Acoustic Alternatives stick around for Mountain Stage from Noon-2:00. It looks like Alison Krauss and Crash Test Dummies are among the guests this week.

Ms. Marjon Is Taking a Sabbatical from 'RNBSoul Groove Radio Show'

RNBSoul Groove Radio Show's last show before going on hiatus will be Saturday, May 28. I will be taking a much-needed sabbatical. In a few weeks, I will be having major surgery. I will be absent from the microphone, but my musical spirit and energy will still be in the studio. I will spend this time improving my music knowledge and cleaning up my music database. I want to read about and research new untapped R&B talent.
