The federal government is currently shut down, but even when it's working, it sometimes takes decades before the public finds out about something. In July of this year, it was finally admitted that there is an official Area 51. So "Theme Attic," the radio show that picks themes and plays music from a variety of genres about selected subjects, will play a few songs about the government, and then examine some of the quirky music about extraterrestrial life. Join host DJ Phil Maq on Wednesday, October 2, at 10:00AM for his clever and unusual takes on music!

Butch Witkowski joins host David Twichell in this installment of We Are Not Alone. Mr. Witkowski has a background in law enforcement, mainly homicide. He is a Former Chief Investigator and State Section Director for MUFON of Pennsylvania. Today, he is Director of the UFO Research Center of Pennsylvania, a group of professionals who have organized to perform in-depth investigations of UFO and abduction phenomena including startling reports of human mutilations, which mirror the evidence found at the scenes of cattle mutilation.

We're almost halfway through the week, so there's still plenty of GREAT artist spotlights still left on WHFR! Check out all of our shows to learn more about your favorite musicians, and some that could become new favorites!

Do not forget to check out the WHFR Benefit at Trinosophes: An Evening of Experimental Sounds featuring CRUISE ITALY, ARTHUR CROW and STEPHANIE REARICK JR. The doors open at 8pm and a suggested donation of $7 gets you in the door (but we will accept anything from $5-$10 or more). Trinosophes is located at 1464 Gratiot Ave in Detroit near Eastern Market. For more information click on the WHFR Benefit Poster on the right of this page or check out our event page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/events/625553320798528/ See you there!

The "International Day of Peace" is this Saturday, September 21, and "Talk Like a Pirate Day" is on Thursday, September 19. So why not combine the two? "Theme Attic," the radio show that picks themes and plays music from a variety of genres about selected subjects, will play songs about peace, as well as some select tunes about pirates. Join host DJ Phil Maq on Wednesday, September 18, at 10:00AM for his clever and unusual takes on music!

Yoga Instructor Jessica Hillman from Yoga 4 Peace is the next guest on "Metaphysically Speaking". Please be sure to join Jessica and host Mike Holloway as they discuss the benefits of practicing yoga. Jessica talks about some of the history of yoga, different types of yoga and different yoga postures. She also touches on how yoga, meditation and proper breathing work to improve your life and reduce stress. All of that, plus talk of a special event by Yoga 4 Peace on Saturday 9/28 on the next edition of "Metaphysically Speaking" Tuesday September 17th at 1p.m.

A full-hour interview with the Superintendent of Dearborn Public Schools, Brian Whiston, talking about topics from budgets and staffing to curriculum and academic success.

Near record high temperatures make this an easy one as "Theme Attic," the radio show that picks themes and plays music from a variety of genres about selected subjects, tries to "hang on to summer"...for at least one more day. Join host DJ Phil Maq on Wednesday, September 11, at 10:00AM for his clever and unusual takes on music!
