Bill Konkolesky has been the State Director of the Michigan Chapter of the Mutual UFO Network since 2004. After a lifetime of his own UFO and abduction encounters, he’s spent the last three decades actively investigating these otherworldly phenomena, trying to make some sense of the bizarre events that have happened to him personally. Bill shares some “high strangeness” cases he has recounted in his latest book “Experiencer 2: Two Worlds Collide". Join us on We Are Not Alone, Monday October 4th at 2PM eastern, only on WHFR.FM.

“Theme Attic” Expands to Three Hours!!! by Phil Maq

In addition to the other shows returning to the WHFR airwaves, a station staple is expanding to a third hour. “Theme Attic,” with DJ Host Phil Maq—now in its eleventh year, will continue to supply its offbeat mixture of eccentric and eclectic Rock, Blues, Folk, Jazz, and too many other genres to mention! They all get wrapped around a musical subject on Wednesdays from 1PM-4PM ET! The songs will lean heavily on new and/or independent artists, and many will be local! Some selectively aged “nuggets” will also make an occasional appearance! Plus, there will most often be some kind of countdown!

Strictly Gospel Expands!

I’m Andy Parks the host of “Strictly Gospel” and we’re expanding our show to Tuesday afternoons from 1:00-4:00 pm EST. The extra hour will allow for us to introduce more of the incredible artists. There is so much new music, and we will explore it all together. All things gospel, that is…”Strictly Gospel”.

Radio Vault Special Edition expands to 10AM-1:00PM Tuesdays!

You can now hang with us an extra hour as Radio Vault Special Edition expands to three jam-packed hours of "stuff" you can't hear anywhere else starting on September 28th. It's now on 10AM-1:00PM. This week we feature radio private eyes.
Johnny Dollar was an insurance investigator with an expense account. The show aired on the CBS Radio Network. It was the last network drama, along with Suspense, to air on network radio from the so-called golden era of broadcasting.
Beloved by collectors today, we have already presented random episodes of Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar.

Back Up at WHFR.FM

The WHFR internet stream (whfr.fm) is back up and running. Our audio signal on 89.3FM is still spotty due to the moisture in the broadcast tower/antenna area from our recent heavy rains. We're working to solve that issue, so thanks for your patience. We appreciate our loyal listeners!

Power Outage

As of about 1:30 this afternoon, there was a power outage on the campus of Henry Ford College that took both our stream and on air signal off the air.

We hope this problem is solved soon and we can get back to providing you the great programing you rely on us for.

Special Artist Highlight on Acoustic Alternatives

The Ark in Ann Arbor is one of the finest listening rooms in the country - and a lot of touring musicians will tell you that. This non-profit venue provides a home for many up and coming and established performers from seemingly almost every genre of music.

This coming weekend, they are hosting their Fall Fundraiser concert. One of the gems of the Michigan music scene, May Erlewine, will be playing this event with her band The Motivations.

Space is the Place Returns!

Returning to the WHFR airwaves this Friday, September 17, 2021, from 8pm-10pm is Space is the Place with your host Tom Wilson. The program, sidelined since 2020 when the Covid lockdown began, was just shy of celebrating 15 years on the air, and we're thrilled to have it back on WHFR. Please join Tom as he continues providing a great mix of rarely-heard avant-garde and experimental music along with its various sub-genres. That's the return of Space is the Place, Fridays from 8pm-10pm, only on WHFR-FM.

The Return of Mountain Stage

We are happy to announce to return of a long time favorite to the WHFR schedule.

Mountain Stage is back on the program schedule this week with a new feel. Long time host Larry Groce is stepping down and leaving the hosting of the show in the very capable hands of Grammy and CMA winner Kathy Mattea.

You'll be able to enjoy the show Thursdays at Noon, following another show that just returned to our airwaves, Acoustic Alternatives. Join John Bommarito for an interview with Larry Groce at 11 AM this week during his show

More Shows!

WHFR is continually modifying our broadcast schedule to bring you live shows hosted by in-studio DJs. Go With The Flow is our most recent "return-to-the-airwaves" program, offering Rockin' Blues on Fridays from 4:00-6:00 PM.

We Are Not Alone on Monday, September 6

Quartermaster Joseph Foster was on deck of a Coast Guard cutter in 1968 when he saw three objects careening at 3500 miles per hour over his Coast Guard cutter, the Mellon. Just ten minutes later, he learned of the sinking of a Soviet submarine, carrying three armed nuclear ballistic missiles and torpedoes, lost with all hands. Actually, he witnessed at least 4 major UAP events, beginning as early as childhood.  Join our discussion on Monday, Sept. 6 at 2PM. EST.
We Are Not Alone is a two-time award-winning radio show airing at its new time and day: the first Monday of each month at 2:00 PM EST with new shows each month.

Thoughts From Outgoing Operations Manager Lara Hrycaj

Hello WHFR Listeners,

After being a WHFR Staff Member since 1992 and WHFR's Operation Manager since 1998, I have taken a position at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois (just south of Chicago). I will be a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Media Studies focusing on Audio Storytelling at Governors State. Additionally, I will be developing a radio station for them: first, an internet station and then a broadcast station. I wouldn't be able take this position if it wasn't for all my years at WHFR and the support from the staff, officers, and management.
